The Quilting Queens have arrived!  Debbie, Cindy and JoAnna traveled together from the Richmond area.

Cindy has attended my quilting retreats since 2010 and loves the retreat!  She traveled with two other friends from the Richmond area.  I saw seven different projects appear from her “magic bag of quilt tricks” during the retreat.

Cindy has worked on this quilt for years and finally finished it!

Featured Quilter: Della

During the month of April 2014, I’m featuring the talented quilters who attended Camelia’s Quilting Retreat.  You will see firsthand the spectacular quilts and other projects completed.  It is amazing how much the ladies accomplish during the four-day quilting retreat!

It was Della’s first time to attend my retreat and she traveled from the Blue Ridge Highlands of Virginia.  She accomplished a lot of quilting in a short time. She worked on an amazing “labor of love” quilt and finally finished it!

Della tells the story behind her awesome “labor of love” quilt, “My best friend lost her foot in a lawnmower accident.  Emmaus remodeled her house to be more accessible for her.  I made the blocks and laid them at the door of any place her friends gathered.  As I was sewing the blocks together I kept thinking Love for Vickie never ends. Then it occurred to me that God’s love for all of us never ends.”

Featured Quilter: Sandy

This is Sandy’s first time to attend my retreat and she was the only “local”. Her sister traveled from Maryland and they had a fun reunion sewing together. Sandy’s work is outstanding. It includes a lot of intricate details that many quilters would cringe at or never attempt.

Featured Quilter: Vanessa

This is Vanessa’s first time to attend my retreat and she traveled from North Carolina with her friend Lynne. Her work is exquisite and she created an awesome charity quilt. She really enjoyed the retreat and I enjoyed having her.

Featured Quilter: Lynne

During the month of April 2014, I’m featuring the talented quilters who attended Camelia’s Quilting Retreat.  You will see firsthand the spectacular quilts and other projects completed.  It is amazing how much the ladies accomplish during the four-day quilting retreat!

Lynne has attended my retreats since 2010. She travels from the Southeast Virginia. I love to see her newest projects and hear about the fabric and supplies she buys from one of my favorite quilt shops, Quilt Lizzie, in Warrenton, North Carolina. Over the years, Lynne and I have bonded and developed a close friendship.

Challenge project using colors in the two crayons provided, blue and orange.

Lynne took the “Woven Through Time” class at one my quilting retreats. In this class, I teach students a woven art quilt technique that is easy enough for beginners. The stunning photo that Lynne used is a church built into a canyon wall. What an awesome job and beautiful quilt she created!
