Basket Weaving Series: Day 2

I love this beautiful basket!

Space dyed reed (comparable to varigated thread that quilters use) achieves a stained glass church window effect.

The name comes from the two D-shaped handles.

This is my first experience using Hamburg cane and I am addicted!

The decorative X’s on the side of the basket,

using Hamburg cane, really dress this basket up.

Here is a tip for my basket weaving friends (my own little invention). Wrap rubberbands around the handles and place an extra piece of reed on the long end of the basket, held in place with clothes pins, to keep your reed from flopping down on your first few rows.

Jan Schmidt is an excellent and patient teacher. I really enjoyed her class!
